The intervening night of 24th and 25th February brought a shocking news for the Indian cinema connoisseurs all over the world. Bollywood’s first female superstar breathed her last at the age of 54. Sridevi was reportedly with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi in Dubai when she passed away.
She was in the UAE to attend Mohit Marwah’s wedding. She reportedly died after a cardiac arrest. Her older daughter couldn’t join her due to the shoot of her debut movie, Dhadak.
Sridevi began her acting career aged just four when she starred in M.A. Thirumugham’s devotional “Thunaivan.”
She made her Bollywood debut aged 12 in the film “Julie,” and landed her first adult role in the following year in K. Balachander’s “Moondru Mudichu” opposite Kamal Hassan.
She became a Bollywood household name with her first leading role in “Solva Sawna” and “Himmatwala", starring in numerous films throughout the 1980s and 90s.
She made her debut at age 12 in the hit Julie (1975) in Bollywood and played her first adult role just a year later with the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu (1976).
She was regarded as the first female "Superstar" of Hindi cinema (Bollywood).
She is survived by her two daughters - Jhanvi and Khushi Kapoor and husband Boney Kapoor.
Jhanvi is busy shooting for her debut film - Dhadhak - with Ishaan Khattar.
